St. Joseph High School for the Annual Holiday Concert.  This is an amazing opportunity to hear
our high school band, choir, and orchestra students perform. We will return to school before lunch.
Reading Counts
Please look for your child’s Reading Counts progress report to come home this Monday!
The goal for this trimester is 18 points.  If your child needs to catch up on points, holiday break

Help! We will need to take down all of the Nutcrackers off the wall. If there are any parents that could volunteer to do this on Thursday, Dec.13th, that would be great! The gym doesn’t host any Gym classes on this day, so you can come anytime besides lunch 11:30-1. The morning or after-school would be best. Let me know if you can help!

Good News!
No, your child wasn't making things up when they came home and told you that Mrs. Ettinger is
having a baby! :) My family and I are very excited. My due date is May 9th, so we have plenty of
time to get lots of learning in before Baby Ettinger arrives! It was also our daughter, Ella's 1st Birthday
this week! So, that was fun too! A lot to be thankful for this year!

New Reading Counts Goal

With the new trimester starting on Monday, Nov. 5th, comes new goals!
Every trimester, we reset ourselves back to zero points, and begin earning points again.
So, your child will start back at zero points on Monday, and will need to earn 18 Reading Counts
points for this trimester. I will send home in their report card what they achieved for the 1st trimester.
They set new goals in their data notebooks for the upcoming trimester.
Hopefully they are getting the hang of Reading Counts and how it works by now.

Spelling Team Meeting Thursday
The informational meeting for this year's spelling team will be on Thursday at lunch recess.  Please encourage your students to come and find out about the spelling team.  Here's how the team works:

1. At the meeting Thursday students will receive a list of words to study for the written test.

2.  Next Wednesday, at lunch recess, I'll give a written test.  The top twelve spellers will be on the spelling team.

3.  We will practice at lunch/recess time 2 x per week until the school bee in January.  This will determine the 3 students, plus an alternate, who will compete in the regional, Cloverleaf, bee in late February.

4.  Serious spellers will spend LOTS of time outside of school preparing/studying for the bee!  At school we will get tips and tricks, and practice the routines of the real bee so those becomes second nature.
