The new Reading Counts Goal for 3rd Trimester is
21 points for a 3, 40 points for a 4!

Multiplication Facts

We had a great time celebrating our multiplication fact success on Friday.  There are still several
students that need to work hard at putting their math facts to memory by the end of the year.  Please
work on this weekly with your child so they become more fluent at their facts. Learning their
multiplication facts now will be super beneficial as they continue into 4th grade and beyond!

Valentine’s Day Party
Thank you to all the parents who volunteered to help with our Valentine’s Day party!  The kids had
a lot of fun playing the games, decorating the craft and eating all the sweet treats.

Multiplication Facts
This is the last week of our multiplication pizza challenge!  Practice, practice, practice!! Please
check in with your child to see how many slices they have earned and continue to have them
practice at home.  IXL F Skill builders are a great way to practice. We will have our pizza party to
celebrate levels passed on Thursday. Here is the what students will earn:

Facts 1-4 passed = 1 slice of pizza
Facts 5-7 passed = 2 slices of pizza
Facts 8 and above - 2 or more slices and dessert

If your child has not passed through the 4's, they are still welcome to eat lunch with us in the
classroom, they would just need to bring their own lunch or bring their hot lunch up to the room. We will
provide juice boxes.

Valentine’s Day Party
We will be having our class Valentine's celebration this Thursday from 2:40 – 3:40.  Parents have
planned some fun activities for our class. I would ask that if your child is bringing valentine's to school
to pass out (it is not mandatory), that they bring one for everyone in our class and sign them
themselves.  Students may begin to bring in their Valentine boxes, bags, or envelopes (made at home)
to school beginning Wednesday, Feb. 13th. If your child is competing in our Valentine's Day Box
competition, they can bring those in on Wednesday as well. I will be asking them which category
they would like their box to be voted on. Here are the categories: Most Creative, Most Original,
Best Representation of Valentine’s Day, Cutest Box, and Funniest Box

Multiplication Facts
We have 2 more weeks to work through all of the multiplication levels to fill a pizza.  For each
multiplication level they pass, students will add another piece to make a whole pizza.  We will
continue testing all the way through 10s. Please check in with your child to see how many slices
they have earned and continue to have them practice at home.  IXL F Skill builders are a great
way to practice. We will have our pizza party to celebrate levels passed on Thursday, February 21st!
