Multiplication Facts

We are continuing working through all of the multiplication levels to fill a pizza.
For each multiplication level they pass, students will add another piece to make a whole pizza.
So far, we’ve tested on 1’s, 2’s, 3’s and 4’s. We will continue testing all the way through 10s in the next
few weeks.  Please check in with your child to see how many slices they have earned. Have your
child begin working on their facts at home too. Learning their multiplication facts will be key to their
success in math.

Reading Counts tests can be taken at home if between the hours of 8am-4pm. So, if we happen to have a snow day, please remind your child that they can get on an take a test if they finish a book.

Reading Counts
I sent notes home this week letting you know how many points your child has currently. Please
make sure to continue to make reading at home a priority. Also, remind them to take tests when
they get to school.

Multiplication Facts
Next week we will be starting an fun incentive to learn our multiplication facts. Students will be
working to earn a pizza party. Please have your child begin working on their facts at home too.
Learning their multiplication facts will be key to their success in math. We are working on Area
right now, where they need to be able to multiple two sides. If they know their facts, it makes
learning this concept easier.

Welcome Back!
Happy New Year!  I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break.  I enjoyed spending time with my
family and had a fun Christmas with my children.  Even though I enjoyed having time off, I'm ready
and excited to get back to school.  The end of the second trimester is February 22nd. Your child
should be getting close to reaching their Reading Counts goal of 18 points for this trimester. Like
any other skill, reading proficiency comes from practice and encouragement.  Thank you for
encouraging your child to read nightly! Also, please make sure your child spends time during the
week practicing his/her multiplication facts. Extra practice at home will help build his/her math skills
and confidence! The end of the second trimester means the year is more than halfway over!  I look
forward to continuing to watch your child learn and grow.
